Who Is Online? (or WIO in short) has finally arrived on IPFire (as of core 113). It was ported by the original author Stephan Feddersen and Alex Marx and is available as a usual add-on package called wio.
It is a builtin monitoring service for the local network showing what devices are connected, which ones are online and can also send alarms on various events.
Installation
WIO can be install over Pakfire or via Console:
pakfire install wio
Configuration
Go to the IPFire menu Status > Who is Online? to start the configuration.

After making changes click Save.
Note:- Make sure that there is a working Mail Service on IPFire, confirmed by the sending of a test email, before selecting the Enable OpenVPN RW and IPSec Statusmails? entry.
Adding clients
In the first section of Add Client, add the needed clients one at a time. After making the needed changes click Use settings.
Add client from ARP-Table
In the second section, clients can be added from the ARP Table.
Click Show Table to open this section.
To add a device click on the red pencil .
Make changes as needed and click Save.
Import client(s)
In the third section, clients can be imported from other sources.
Click Show Table to open this section.
CSV file
Clients can be imported via a CSV file.
Hosts configuration
Devices added via the IPFire menu Network > Edit Hosts (also saved in the /var/ipfire/main/hosts file) can be added as WIO clients by clicking on Importing.
DHCP configuration
Devices added via the IPFire menu Network > DHCP Server (also saved in the /var/ipfire/dhcp/fixleases file) can be added as WIO clients by clicking on Importing.
Scan network(s)
Click Show Table to open this section.
Click Start to scan one of the networks.
After scanning is complete, the located devices will be listed:
Click Save after making any changes.
